"Prize" was a once in a lifetime dog. He was purchased by Flo McDaniel and Susan Rossy of Rossy's Aussies at the 1984 ASCA National Specialty in Las Vegas, Nevada. Susan and I saw Prize in the 6 - 9 mo. puppy dog class and knew we had to have him. Christine Doud of Showtime Kennels took a gamble on us and sold this gorgeous puppy to us and I don't think she ever regretted it.
"Prize" won a Pre-National Best of Breed at the 1985 Nationals in Red BLuff, California at 18 months of age. He went onto win in 12 states numerous Best of Breed wins at ASCA Shows. (That was all we had back in them olden' days). AKC did not allow Aussies to compete until 1993. Prize was not only a Best of Breed winner, he produced some of the breeds' most beautiful bitches of today. He was crossed with our linebred bitch, CH Marquis Sun-Up Sarah McMatt 5 times and produced Champions in every litter. Prize went onto become a Hall of Fame dog. He was the foundation dog of McMatt Kennels. Don't be surprised if you see Prize puppies one day in the ring as I saved this great old dog. He passed away in 1996 at 13 years of age of Cancer.
I loved this dog and will be forever remembering of his love and attention he gave to me.
